This project presented a unique challenge. Illustrated to tell the story of how digital technology is fulfilling the role of the new industrial revolution, it was clear that it needed to be conceptual, not specific. As can be seen in the concept sketches, the story could easily be misrepresented by the image. The gear and robotic hands were chosen to represent the passing of old technology to new while suggesting the evolution of technology as well.

ALTERNATE SKIN TREATMENT This was an early skinning concept for the robot. Although it conveys the idea of much used machinery, the separation of past and present wasn't apparent. It was decided that the robot needed to be modern with new materials.
